Air Station
Endpoint node, cheap enough to sprinkle redundantly and capture micro-climate information.
Here's my basic overview of the "Air" Station. I'm thinking it will do Temp, Humidity, and Pressure, and can easily get a $100 upgrade for wind speed and direction if needed.
- Base:
- AT91SAM7S64 (link). $5. (Dev board $60).
- Battery:
- 6V L-ion Battery from Panasonic (datasheet). 1200mAh. $12.
- Solar Power:
- (Perhaps multiple) 6V OEM Solar Panel from Silicon Solar (link). $6!!!
- Sensors:
- Temp/Humiditiy: ChipCap from GE (link). $7. (Not ruggedized)
- Pressure: SCP1000 from VTI (link). $20. (Not ruggedized)
- Wind Speed and Direction (link). $170 (Ruggedized. Site also has many more ruggedized sensors).
- Networking:
- Xbee Card (link). $19.
Total: $100-$200.
